On behalf of the Jimmy Stewart Statue committee, I want to both thank and congratulate you for the great job you did in the monument of James Stewart. Everyone who has seen the statue has been impressed with it. You truly have captured the essence of the man.

- Linda Moore, President of the Jimmy Stewart Statue Committee Inc.

Malcolm not only has a fresh approach to sculpting but evokes a virile strength in his work so important to a series of this type. Yet he also possesses the delicate sensitivity so important to the fine artist. He is a dedicated serious artist.

- Paul A Rossi, Former Director, Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art

I have been impressed by the ease with which he meets and works successfully with all manner of folk -- business men and women, miners, bankers, university people, dog mushers, women in construction, artists, government officials, workmen, ethnic groups, fur dealers, church groups, young people, the Chamber of commerce, Rotarians, Lions and Kiwanians, retired types, city people, village people, engineers, scouts, contractors, media and press types. It has been amazing! For he seems to learn something more, a better understanding of Alaska, a clearer view of how his art contribution would fit in, with every encounter. And he makes friends everywhere.

His creative talents become tuned to the place, the time, the occasion, and the people. No wonder, then, that the sculpture he designed, finished, and supervised putting in place in Golden Hear Plaza is an outstanding and memorable work of art, a masterwork of a great American artist.

- Dr. Wm. R. Wood, President (Emeritus), University of Alaska

The Classic Bronze Division of James H. Matthews and Company has had the pleasure of casting may pieces of sculpture for Malcolm Alexander. We have also had the pleasure of exhibiting may of his pieces at a traveling exhibit which has been displayed at leading art galleries throughout the United States. We have had good results with this show and excellent comments from everyone who has viewed and purchased Malcolm's work.

We were recently approached by the leading distributor of limited edition pieces in the United States to commission an artist to do a series of sport figures. Malcolm Alexander was our unquestioned choice for this work. Currently, these pieces are being exhibited and sold at the exclusive stores throughout the country.

We know Malcolm Alexander to be a talented artist of high integrity. We consider it a privilege to cast and exhibit his works.

- Ralph E. West, Vice President and Manager, Jas. H. Matthews & Co.

On behalf of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial commission, I would like to personally thank you for the outstanding job you did to create the scaled sculptures for the model used during the unveiling ceremony on Monday, May 20, 1985. They are beautiful.

- Linda J. McClenahan, Chair, California Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission

I am happy to act as a reference for Malcolm Alexander. Malcolm has taught sculpture for the Santa Barbara Art Institute with a great amount of energy and enthusiasm. He has an outstanding grasp of his subject and has the ability to organize his material in a concise and meaningful way. He is respected by fellow faculty and well liked by his students. Malcolm always seems to attract students, having some of the largest classes at the Institute. He is very responsible and a person one can place confidence in. I would not hesitate to recommend Malcolm as a teacher and creative sculptor.

- Kenneth R. Jewesson, Director, Santa Barbara Art Institute

Malcolm Alexander was commissioned to create a monument to honor the field crews who built the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. Atlantic Richfield initiated the project on behalf of the TAPS owners, and I became responsible for maintaining contact with all parties involved in its development. Success of the venture was due largely to Malcolm's capabilities in the field of subject research, artistic execution and production planning.

For artistic execution, I can only suggest a visit to Valdez -- the impact of what Malcolm has created resides between the eye and the mind of the viewer, blended with the grandeur of the Alaskan scenery.

In regard to the planning and production of the finished product, all parties concerned performed admirably. From a four-foot clay model in February of 1979 to the twelve-foot bronze monument on site in Alaska in September of 1980, each step of the established plan was completed as scheduled. During this complex process, Malcolm played a principal part in developing and achieving the plan. Dedication, scheduled well over a year in advance, took place on time.

- R. B. Hastle, Senior Vice President, ARCO Pipeline Co.
